Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart!

Happy Thanksgiving! I pray you will be blessed today spending time with loved ones and family. Thanksgiving is a time of year to give thanks to God for all the blessings received this year. Many wonder though with Covid, how is that a blessing? That itself is another story and we can expound on that in a future article. In short, Covid has brought many people closer to God through people seeking Him, working from home and having time for the study of the Word of God and in prayer.

Just this morning, I did a Tik Tok video under my user name @PastorJoeLee. The video was a Thanksgiving Scripture reading of Psalm 100. Please look at the words.

Psalm 100 – English Standard Version

A Psalm for Giving Thanks

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God!
  It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
  and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good;
  his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

This Psalm calls the whole earth to worship Him. Make a joyful noise to the Lord all the earth! This call goes out beyond the “chosen people” but to all peoples of the earth. God is their king as well, whether they know it or not. We should serve the Lord with gladness, loving service is a grateful response to the grace of God. We are to know that the Lord is God and He made us all. We are His sheep of His world. We are to enter His presence with thanksgiving and praise. The Lord is good and His steadfast love is a covenant with His people. It is a forever covenant of His lovingness towards us.

My wife sometimes sings this song around our home when she is working in the kitchen. The song is called “Give Thanks” by Don Moen. Here are the lyrics:

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

Give thanks with a grateful heart (with a grateful heart)
Give thanks to the Holy One (to the Holy One)
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart (with a grateful heart)
Give thanks to the Holy One (to the Holy One)
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich (I am rich)
Because of what the Lord has done for us”
Give thanks

We give thanks to You

I pray that today, you will find the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. I pray that you will give thanks for everything! Jesus wants a personal relationship with you. If you do not know Him, won’t you pray this simple prayer today?

Dear Jesus, I am a sinner. I believe that you are the Son of God and that you came into the world to save it. I believe you died on the cross to save me of my sins. I believe that you rose from the grave on the third day. I ask you to come into my heart and forgive me from all the sins and trespasses I have ever committed. Thank you, Jesus, for saving my soul. I pray this in Jesus Name!

If you have prayed that prayer, please let me know by making a comment below. May the Lord bless each of you as well as your families. Jesus wants a personal relationship with you. Happy Thanksgiving!
