Friends, The Bachelor was on Monday night. I didn’t care to watch it because it makes me sick to think that a man is kissing and making out with all those women. This is not the type of relationship a man or woman should be seeking and yet Hollywood is blasting hedonism into American’s living rooms every Monday night for about two hours.
A godly relationship should start with a man and woman in a dating relationship and both should save themselves for marriage when it comes to having sex. Having multiple partners means that a person has become one flesh with multiple people. A godly relationship includes loving God with all of your heart, soul, and mind. It is worshiping Christ Jesus together and being equally yoked in faith as well as one’s relationship.
Having sex out of marriage is fornication. Having sex with someone you are not married to when you are married is adultery. If one loves God, they will respect their own bodies as well as respect the other person if they abstained from sexual relationships until marriage.
Unfortunately, the hedonistic nation we live in does not recognize the latter and they ignore everything that was once held as sacred under the bonds of marriage. This show is literally the fruits of the evil one and he is enjoying watching millions of people being influenced by this evil and by living a sinful life, televised right into your homes.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:12-20, “12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
We are to flee from sexual immorality. The people on this show are willing participants in televised sexual immorality. The ultimate goal is to find a wife and during the process, potentially two to three women will be taken to the “Fantasy Suite” where it is presumed they had sexual intercourse with this bachelor.
As Christian’s, we should not be watching this type of television program. In Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
We are not to conform to the sinful nature of this world but strive to live our lives like Christ Jesus, holy and blameless. See Ephesians 1:4.
I pray that you will not be influenced to watch this show. Instead, consider reading God’s Word with your family or friends. Pray together. Become close to each other through the love of Christ Jesus. His ways are the best ways.
