Warning Against Neglecting Salvation
Hebrews 2:1–4
A person can drift without deciding to leave. That is why the warning in Hebrews is so urgent: we must pay close attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.
The writer asks, “How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3, ESV). The message declared through angels carried weight, and disobedience had consequences. How much more carefully, then, should we receive the salvation announced by the Lord Jesus Himself? Those who heard Him confirmed the message, and God bore witness through signs, wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 2:2–4).
We may think of neglect as an outright rejection, but it can also begin quietly. We become occupied with other things. We hear God’s Word without letting it shape our lives. We delay the obedience we know He calls us to give.
Dear friend, pay close attention to Christ today. Remember the mercy He has shown you. Open His Word, bring Him the concerns that fill your mind, and follow where He leads. The salvation He has given is too great to treat casually.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have neglected Your Word and allowed my heart to drift. Draw my attention back to You. Help me treasure Your salvation and walk faithfully with You today. Amen.
