Just yesterday, I had the opportunity to view the first hearing of the January 6, 2021 Capitol assault and riot. For me, it’s upsetting to see the body cam footage of those Capitol Police Officers trying to hold the line and defend Democracy! It is very upsetting and eye opening to those who have indifference to what happened.
Regardless, if people think it was Antifa or the protestors, we all should be appalled and mad as fire that people would assault those protecting the Capitol. I know well the fear and terror of someone trying to kill me! Unless you have literally faced death, you do not understand what I am talking about.
Are we to just sweep this sad day under the carpet and act as though it never occurred? Are we to compare this to other insurrections during last Summers riots? The attempt to disrupt the certification of the election was an assault on our Republic. To think that there are Americans that wanted to literally kill the Vice President because he would not do what the President wanted him to do is horrific! For one, the Vice-President could not challenge the results. He had to follow the Constitution and certify the Election.
For us who call ourselves Christians, we need to be literally on our knees and praying for our nation to turn to God and repent from the sins of our nation. We need to come together as one people, one nation, under God, unified! But I am afraid that our nation has slid so far backwards and have kicked God out that it is almost too late! How much more hatred and sin can mankind do to each other and continue to curse God’s name before God says enough is enough and severely punishes the United States? We live in the greatest nation in the world and yet we treat each other with indifference and malice.
I am calling all Christians to commit to praying for our nation, for repentance and revival. Please pray for our leaders even if they are not in your preferred party. The Bible calls us to pray for leaders. See 1 Timothy 2:1-4, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
